About Us
Paca D’Lites Alpaca Ranch is a family owned and run business. Tim and Cyndi have lived in Parker, Texas, on a little over 4 acres since
1992. They currently have three beautiful children who absolutely love their animals! Alpacas are a great business for the
entire family!
How did you get here from there?
While searching for a livestock that would provide tax exemptions on their property, Cyndi
stumbled upon an advertisement for alpacas in a magazine. Tim almost had a heart attack when he saw the “sticker price” for the
animals. However, Cyndi couldn’t stop thinking about these cute, child friendly animals. Alpacas are one of the few animals that
are so extremely easy to care for, low cost to feed, and are virtually risk free of injury to the handler. So, she made a deal with
Tim. If he would attend a seminar to learn about all of the aspects of the animals, and listen with an open mind, she would drop
the subject. So, the couple attended a seminar that explained the history of alpacas, aspects of caring for the animals, tax
advantages and investment returns, and much more. Tim finally became interested. So, the couple purchased their first two animals,
a couple of pregnant females. And with that, the business was born!
What now?
Well, the couple (and their children!) quickly fell in love with these precious animals!
The ease of care and relaxing attitudes of the animals were growing the “paca” fever with the family! The entire family was able to
watch in awe as the first ranch baby was born… a healthy, beautiful, brown baby boy. Wow! It was incredible! So, they purchased
MORE! And the saga continues… Now, Cyndi has learned to wash, card, spin, and machine knit items from our animals fiber. What a
joy to see the end product or fruit of our labor, so to speak, from our animals. It's a relaxing and rewarding experience.
What about the name, Paca D’Lites?
Paca, was chosen as a slang for “pack of”. This was chosen because, originally, the couple
was breeding Rocky Mountain horses, in addition to the alpacas. So, this covered both animals initially, but would still work if
they decided to exclusively breed alpacas. The name delights was chosen next. However, Tim wanted to put a twist on the name. Yea,
we're a little weird! :o) Thus, “D” was chosen to represent the “D” in Daugherty and lites quickly replaced the rest. It’s scary
how the mind works, isn’t it?
Now what?
Our ranch is now home to nine alpacas, with another four being
boarded here. It’s been an exciting experience and we can’t wait to see what lies ahead for us!
Call or e-mail us. We would love to chat with you about your plans and hopefully answer the
many questions you will have!
